From the sand dunes of Rajasthan to the hubbub of Delhi and to the International Music scene, Satish Sharma has had one constant companion - his Guitar. Close experience of rural life in Rajasthan reflects itself in Satish Sharma’s music, in fact dominates it. This unique sound of ragas being played on nylon string Guitar was developed by him in the late nineties. Performing all round the world he finds himself most indulging in the strings of Guitar, experimenting and playing western as well as Hindustani classical music.
While a student at the Military School Ajmer, Satish saved up and bought his first acoustic Guitar. He went on to compose music for several TV serials and jingles.
Singers like Shubha Mudgal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Kunal Ganjawala, Mohit Chauhan, Mahalakshmi Iyyer, Labh jhanjua, Palash Sen and KK featured regularly in his albums. Among his most popular albums are ‘Nachoon Sari Sari Raat’ with Shubha Mudgal and ‘Sukoon’ with sitar Maestro Shujaat Khan. Later he formed a team with Ustad Shujaat Khan called ‘Saaz’. Saaz also performed at Grasim Mr. India show in Mumbai.
Although a dedicated guitarist, he truly loves to compose songs, write lyrics and also renders his voice for original compositions. He has been composing music for ‘Bollywood’ movies and his last released feature films were ‘Zubaan’, ‘Gutargu’ and ’99.9FM’ Amongst his last released works are albums such as ‘Love Songs on Guitar (Vol. 1 &2), ‘Ragas on Guitar’ and ’Morning Bliss’ by Saregama, ‘Ek Tu’, ‘Sufi Strings’ etc.
He has performed in various events all around the country as well as abroad. His first album in Hindustani Classical Music segment was ‘Morning Dew’. It was an amalgamation of traditional and contemporary music, a superb blend of the Guitar and the Hindustani classical music.
Satish Sharma truly blends the melody of Hindustani ragas and harmony of the strings, he has created a mystical magic of soothing music which elevates the spirits and pacifies the moods. His new style of playing along with his singing capability surrounds one’s soul and gets embedded deep within and keeps tantalizing the soul for a long time.
At present he is working on his new creation, Sapt guitar, which is the world’s first seven string, nylon fretless guitar. Sapt guitar is the result of his love for guitar and passion for Indian classical music. Guided by his instincts to excel, he created a seven sting, nylon fretless guitar with the help of Mr. Daniel Zucali, a world renowned Luthier from Austria.
Satish has always liked to experiment and keep discovering new avenues in his pursuit of excellence and Sapt guitar is another milestone in this journey.
